Flat Pattern Project Spring 2018

This project began with a mood board that encapsulated what elements I wanted to pull my inspiration from. Ultimately, I decided on a peach color, with an off the shoulder bodice and a long skirt with a slit.

I then sketched the design and illustrated a floral pattern. This acted as my guide for the flat pattern creation process.

The sketch was used as a base for this technical flat, created using Adobe Illustrator. The fabric I chose to use was imported into the program, where it was added to the flat. This image was included in a Tech Pack created for the garment.

Before drafting the flat pattern, I created a customized sloper based on my measurements and a traditional missy block. The sloper was then adjusted and manipulated by hand to create the new flat pattern for the dress. A lockstitch machine and an overedge serger were the only machines used to create this look.
